This is a blog post going over what I learned in the AfterEffects Fundamentals Tutorials.
This is the preferences menu from the setup videos.
This is going over how layers work. There's a purple outline where the layer below is sitting.
This is the applying effects tutorials. It goes over how to add and tweak some of the different effects that come with AfterEffects.
This is showing how you can adjust separate layers differently.
This shows how you can adjust the speed of a clip. The percentages work kind of funny, I think setting it to 200% makes it half the speed. Not sure what the thought process behind that is but I guess it's not too bad.
This is from the frame blending tutorial. You have to enable frame blending in two places (shown on the left) and you can see the blur from the blending on the right.
This is showing different blending modes.
This is showing the effect that the built in color correcter can have.
This is the brightness and contrast tutorial, where I learned how to tweak those.
This is showing how you can change the Hue and Saturation of the clip.
Here is changing color effects. I was able to select the sky color and change all the colors like it.
This is the color balance tutorial where you can change how the different balances of color are set.
This is the color curves tutorial. You can manually change the curves to tweak settings. You can make some pretty terrible looking things like this.
This is showing some of the color effects, like Black and White.
This is showing how multiple effects can layer and make changes. This looks similar to how the automatic color correcter looks.
This shows the way you can manually choose which settings appear through hotkeys. Pressing the hotkeys will display them down there for fine tuning, and you can hold shift and press the keys to have multiple appear.
This is from Keyforming transforms. It works pretty much like other 3D applications. Set a base, then move the time slider and set a key with different attributes.
This is from changing keyframes. You can click and select them to move them, copy paste, etc.
This is from the motion blur tutorial. You have to set it on in two places, similar to the frame blending. You can then change the blur, which can be seen in the circle on the right.
This just shows how you can animate effects. It works basically the same as keyframing transforms. Nothing too complex.
This shows the graph editor for effects and how you can really fine tune what you want your keyframes to look like.
This is showing how you can set up time differences, to speed up or slow down selections.
Overall this first tutorial wasn't too hard. I haven't done video work like this before, but a lot of it is similar to other 3D applications I've used. So far animating works basically the exact same as it does in maya, though I'm sure that will change soon. So far it isn't very hard and is enjoyable!
